Two small desiccated specimens presented by journalist Jaime Maussan during a public hearing at the Mexican Chamber of Deputies on 12 September 2023. Maussan stated they were recovered near Nazca, Peru, and carbon-dated to roughly 1,000 years old. Independent researchers who examined the bodies reported anomalous anatomical features, while Mexican and international scientists disputed the findings, citing possible assembly from human and animal remains. Scientific analysis of the specimens remains contested.
