A local fireman photographing his daughter in a rural marsh captured a figure in the background bearing a striking resemblance to an astronaut in a white pressure suit. The photographer insisted no one else was present during the exposure. While heavily publicized for decades as photographic proof of alien entities, modern photographic analysis has generally concluded that the figure is most likely his wife, Annie Templeton, captured incidentally in the background and rendered unfamiliar by over-exposure. Kodak publicly offered a reward for a confirmed explanation but never paid out. Jim Templeton stood by his account until his death in 2011 and rejected the wife-in-background reading.
