Background

Gilles Pinon was a French Navy Rear Admiral who became one of the most senior French military figures to publicly engage with the UAP question. His 2008 open letter to President Sarkozy argued that the precautionary principle demanded that France treat UAP incursions as a potential defence matter. He contributed analytical and strategic thinking to civilian ufological investigations, including the Haravilliers case, before his sudden death in 2009.
