Sourcing status: Sourced and not flagged as disputed (see Sources section below for the 2 citations this entry is based on).

British author and former journalist whose books popularize alternative archaeology and lost-civilization interpretations of ancient monuments, mythology, and planetary catastrophe. In The Mars Mystery, co-authored with Robert Bauval and John Grigsby, he connected Cydonia imagery, Mars catastrophe scenarios, and terrestrial ancient-civilization themes.

Background

Graham Hancock was born in Edinburgh in 1950 and worked as a journalist before becoming widely known for speculative ancient-history books including The Sign and the Seal, Fingerprints of the Gods, and The Mars Mystery. His work is controversial in academic archaeology, but it has had a large influence on ancient-astronaut, lost-civilization, and Mars anomaly literature.
