Background

Lou Baldin was born in Verona, Italy, in 1952. His family moved to New York City in 1957 and later to Kansas City, Missouri, in 1960, where he has continued to live. At seventeen he joined the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged three years later, after which he worked in construction and real estate. Baldin states that in 1995 he was contacted by an unidentified individual who suggested he write a book using information that person provided. He recalls having little prior interest in or awareness of the broader UFO research community. He published 'In League with a UFO' in June 1997, one month before the fiftieth anniversary of the Roswell incident; he has said the timing was not intentional and that his publisher pointed out the anniversary only after publication. Baldin has since published additional titles, including 'A Day with an Extraterrestrial,' 'Shrouded Chronicles of the Christ,' a revised edition of 'In League with a UFO,' and a multi-part series titled 'Coming Clean on UFOs & Extraterrestrials.' He gave his first radio interview in 2016, on the VERITAS program with Mel Hostalrich, describing his account as a personal experience rather than the work of a researcher examining others' cases. He is known in some online UFO forums by the handle 'Sleeper.' His claims of contact and of privileged information about the Roswell incident have not been independently corroborated.
