Former U.S. Air Force intelligence officer, call sign 'Quake', who reportedly told associates he had knowledge of a covert UAP crash-retrieval program and had agreed to speak with congressional staff. Found dead at his Falls Church, Virginia home on May 12, 2024, before any such interview took place; a medical examiner attributed the death to an accidental drug and alcohol overdose.

Background

Matthew James Sullivan was a former U.S. Air Force intelligence officer who served with the 1st Fighter Wing's 27th Fighter Squadron before working for the Air Force Intelligence Agency, the National Air and Space Intelligence Center and the National Security Agency; he received a Bronze Star for service during Operation Enduring Freedom. Described by associates as a close friend of David Grusch, Sullivan reportedly discussed a so-called 'legacy' UAP crash-retrieval program and was said to have been scheduled to speak with congressional staff investigating UAP claims. He died at his home in Falls Church, Virginia on May 12, 2024; a medical examiner's report attributed the death to an accidental overdose involving alcohol, alprazolam, cyclobenzaprine and imipramine. Because Sullivan died before any sworn testimony or on-record interview took place, his reported claims remain unverified second-hand accounts relayed by others rather than his own documented statements.
