2003-10-14 · Vandenberg AFB, California · US
Sourcing status: Sourced and not flagged as disputed (see Sources section below for the 3 citations this entry is based on).

A group of Boeing contractors reported a roughly football-field-sized, glowing red square silently hovering at low altitude over missile-defense launch facilities at Vandenberg Air Force Base, remaining for about 45 seconds before departing over nearby hills. Security-forces member Jeffrey Nuccetelli, stationed at the base, documented this and four related incidents between 2003 and 2005. Former Navy pilot Ryan Graves publicized the account in July 2023 congressional testimony; Nuccetelli gave his own sworn testimony in September 2025.
