Jeffrey Nuccetelli served 16 years on active duty as a U.S. Air Force security forces member, followed by more than 20 years as a federal civilian employee in national security, law enforcement, and public administration roles. From 2003 to 2005 he was assigned to security forces at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, home to the National Missile Defense Project, during a period he says the National Reconnaissance Office considered some of its most important launches in 25 years. He states that he and other personnel witnessed, documented, and reported up the chain of command a cluster of five UAP incidents at the base during that window, most notably an October 14, 2003 incident in which Boeing contractors reported a massive, glowing red square silently hovering over missile-defense launch facilities before drifting off. Nuccetelli gave sworn written and oral testimony about these events to the House Oversight Committee's Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets on September 9, 2025, and has since advocated publicly for stronger UAP whistleblower protections.
